I picked this up from a friend. Mostly for the parts on the outside of the trans. I want to convert my Cuda to a 4 speed and will probably sell this trans.

Here is the driver side. The only numbers are C-9664 J and above that is 8x7. Next to where it bolts to the bell is a cast set of numbers that say 9x25.

There is no pad for the VIN. The passenger side has C89538 cast into it.

The tailshaft has C958394U cast into it.

It is a Hurst shifter.

Any ideas?

The tail housing is later being a dual-mount.The case looks early since there is no raised pad on the right side above the casting number.h

Not much more to say; as stated, a hybrid with a pre-'68 main case and '70-'74 tail with an E-body shifter.
