Hey guys it's been a while since I posted here. Hope everyone is doing good. Anyway I have been hanging with my Eddie Heads on my 422" engine for quite a while now and they have done okay. Thinking of stepping up a little though. Bang for the buck opinion , What's the best setup for an x block stroker in your opinion. Car runs 10.70s and 80s on pump gas and no spray. I would like to pick up right much with the right heads and new roller cam. Indy , Victors or ???

Okay , does anybody have any good info on the Victor heads ? I read on them a little and they look bada$$ but what else is needed ? I have ported Eddie heads with Harland Sharpe roller rockers. Will they work with theses heads ? Intake ? Headers ? Any info would be appreciated..

The Victors yes Big Block rockers and the only maker of headers I know of right now are TTI. W5 heads do not instantly bolt on and go. Dislike what Edelbrock says.

I've seen a set of BB style Harland Sharp rockers for Victor Heads, they don't even come close to fitting. Nothing lines up at all.
Hughes, Crower, T&D and I believe Jesel have some by now as well. All have an offset intake rocker arm

Thanks Guy's , I see the flow numbers that Edelbrock advertises and they look wild. If somebody uses these and can give me some heads up and dos and don'ts I would love to know. I really am liking what I read about them so far.

I should have stated that is what Edelbrock said/says IIRC. Thanks!

The valve angle is 16 degrees, you "may" get by with a standard 18 degree piston depending on what you've got camshaft wise.
As I mentioned before, they rocker arms are specific to them, despite Edelbrock initially claiming they'd run with BBM arms.

They still run a standard bolt pattern intake, you'd run a Super Victor or something similar. A friend is building 2 or 3 of them currently, with the off the shelf CNC ported heads. There is a lot of material left in them, their port seems like a waste of a great casting. I'll ask him if there was anything else he did out of the ordinary on Saturday if I remember

Brett Miller has done some 59 and 48 degree versions. There is a 59* version on Facebook, as Shiloh mentioned, that made lots of steam.

From what I’ve been told about the Victor heads you better plan on ordering a new set of custom pistons not only because of valve angle but valve size too. The soon to be released TrickFlow heads should be a very nice out of the box bolt on head but dont flow as well as a well ported Edelbrock Head with a bigger valve.

Not going to pick up much running pump gas unless you either decide to run more compression and change camshaft, etc that will allow you to take advantage.
Or change heads to like an indy which will require different rockers, headers, etc, and thus a good bit more money to do so.
Or nitrous
To give you an example, years ago i had an eddie headed 416 that i drove everywhere that ran 10.74 best. Flat tappet motor
Did nothing but change to W5 heads, headers, and intake. Car went 10.38 best. Probably would have went 10.20’s at that point swapping to a roller as well.
But the head, header, rocker gear, intake swapping was well over 5k for the 3.5 tenths gain.
I suspect a swap to Indy heads would be similar. My existing cam that was in both combos was 260/266 600 ish lift.
So those 3 or 4 tenths will cost a bunch. That said selling your topend like i did would offset a good bit of the cost

I’m not sure what you weight now or how quick you want to go but I’m guessing there is some ET left on the table with your combo now. What do the heads flow? A ported Victor intake works very well. These small blocks love high stall convertors in the 5600-5800 stall area. Street strip combo maybe E85 so you can jump the compression up like stated above. My son went 10.0’s with my old 408 with Edelbrock heads at 3200 pounds

I'm waiting on the Trick Flow heads myself. It's going to be along winter.

I am talking with a member on here about buying his heads , rockers and intake. Indy 360-1 setup. I know it will need porting and matching the intake to the heads but I think that may be the way to go. I know you can make good power with the Indy stuff.

Indy is probbaly the least difficult upgrade if they are ported.

I had a leaky exhaust port on my heads and I didn’t go aggressively on the exhaust because on known issues on Indy heads. Luckily I could weld it.
