I know nothing about setting up the contact but just ran across this video and it may or may not be helpful. https://youtu.be/BBA8KjUGsXw

Yes - get the backlash in spec. You're close.
Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.

Yes - get the backlash in spec. You're close. What do you think my next move should be? I was going to shim the carrier to the right into the pinion gear? Not sure what it would do the the depth of the pattern into the ring gear?

Yes move toward pinion about .012-.015. Do you have some slip bearings to make your life easy? If not you can make some with a dremel and a few sanding drums, sand them out till they slip on carrier rather than pulling bearings 10 times. I found out that a dremel works after I bought a set. No but I broke down and bought a press. At this point, buying a couple sacrificial bearings would be merciful.
