#1-Can the battery cables touch while the vehicle has the battery removed and not cause issues? I am guessing they can since the battery is out. Car is in storage and battery is removed and cables are not touching, but just curious in case they do get moved and bump each other. Was planning on doing some cleaning up on the wiring and such and wanted to double check.

#2-If I wanted a battery cutoff just to make sure there is no draw (no power when at car shows or if I am cleaning the interior/working inside and doors are open for a while), can I just hook it inline between the battery and ground point? I have a negative cable at the battery that has a small body ground and the other end goes to the alternator bracket for a ground. Could I just add a cutoff in the middle of the negative cable or should I add it to the end (as if it was the battery) and a small cable to the negative post of the battery? Here is what I was looking at and not sure which one I wanted. Side post battery and don't like taking the bolt out all the time due to stripping a battery thread once.

#1 - the cables touching each other won't hurt a thing with the battery out.
#2 - if you add a cut off, it has to include the wire to the battery on one side, with all the other wires to the system, on the other. it can be on the negative side, but "most" racing organizations require it to be on the positive side. that way, if something comes in contact with the body structure and a connected part, the circuit will not be re-energized.
i'm not a fan of those key type switches. they seem pretty cheap inside with tiny contacts, no matter what continuous amp rating they have. just my opinion.

#1, as long as the battery is out of the system, that is fine.

#2, this is probably the cheapest and easiest option. Your version B won't actually disconnect the electrical system since the ground is still connected to the body.

Don't even think about putting the cut-off on the negative side. It can cause things to happen that you will never figure out.

Why is that? I am not arguing, more of wanting to learn. Will it do the same thing as far as not allowing lights to come on/power draw and keep you from starting the vehicle? I am gathering from the replies so far the switch will go where the battery end is now and an extension to the battery. I don't need it to kill the car like if it was at the track, just keep battery drain from happening and keep it from starting. This was the instructions on a switch at Autozone. This is why I'm asking.

I have a similar one on the battery now. It's on the negative per the install instructions, but wanted a heavier duty one.
