I’ve installed several sets of these Top Cat brand and they have always been spot on. I’m replacing one on a customers 70 RR, two door post. They were oem and had a part no on them and they had a stainless edge visible just like the rest of my hardtop cars. The new ones I had were all black and did not have the stainless on them that is normally visible. I looked at the only other post car in the shop, which is a 69 Super Bee and it was all black like the new ones. Anyone else have a post car with the stainless cat whiskers? I’m talking about the doors only as the rear windows did not have any.

Hey Mark
I remember the manufacturer telling me once that all Mopar hardtop cars got stainless and all sedans got black. Maybe post cars also get black?

Would it be possible to list the part number that is on the back of the felts? It may be a situation that they were an over the counter part from the late 70s and that is what was provided to them at the dealership.

All of the post / sedan 68 to 70 B-Body window felts that were documented for the Top Cat felts were a cloth covered and a rubber coated flocked material. I assume when you say a stainless bead, you are referring to a bright bead as the black bead can be stainless as well.

After all of these years, never say never, but it is interesting to hear your observation.

I finally got a chance to work this project Saturday. Here’s what I figured out. These cat whiskers that I removed from the car could not be oem. The car has been “ restored” and not very well at that. The car had hardtop ones installed. They even used the fuzzy short piece for the rear chrome protection. The outside piece with the part number was the incorrect style that had only rubber and no felt. I’m sure it was just the bulk part number cast into the part. I did discover one thing however. My only post car that I have definitely has the original parts. The top cat ones I have still do not match the oem ones that are on the inside of the window. The oem ones are thicker and seem to have more cloth on them instead of the stainless trim. The top cat ones appear to be the same ones as hardtop ones only painted black . I guess production cost just don’t justify the project if you have a part that works.
