Is a 68 GTX/Sport Satellite hood release lever the same or different as a belvedere/Satellite? The grille is different so is the lever the same or different between them? Thanks.

Yes, they are different, currently I have a non GTX release on my GTX and it is not pretty...functional...but not pretty, sticks forward like it's got it's tongue sticking out but it's all I had, years ago I took a bird shot to the grille and had to change to a Belvedere grille which necessitated the release change also, somewhere over the years I lost the correct release, haven't been able to find one yet. Below pics shows what mine currently looks like.

Thanks for the photo. So is the GTX release just shorter than what you Have? Does it look the same where it mounts and the pivot area? Does it have the spring also?

Can you measure your current lever from center of pivot to end? Thank you!

From the pivot to the tip it is 3 3/4 inches long, however, if I remember correctly the correct lever is designed differently so that it reaches around the grille structure in kind of an "S" shape, I looked at my buddies about 3 years ago and I think that's the way I remember it.

I don't think the GTX/SportSat upper grille molding sticks out any less than a RR/Sat/Bel does, both are pretty flush with the hood edge.
Are you sure that's not from a '69 or '70? If I recall, the location for that release and the striker changed...
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here! I've run into that but it was 25+ years ago.

1970 is complete different. You release the first lever under the grille, not on top of the grille.
