Going to pick up a 39 1/2 ton in the morning. The front fenders are rough, does the 39-47 stuff interchange and are the car fenders the same?

Truck fenders will be required, and 39-47 used the same style, but 3/4 ton trucks and bigger trucks got fenders with larger wheel openings and the fenders are taller, top to bottom to clear the bigger tires. Gene

That truck looks a whole lot better then the last 2 I drug home! Did you get a title with it?

The one I'm building will be built without fenders because the fenders I have will take around 20 hours each (I'm a welder by trade) to make them usable, then they will need body work to be pretty. My truck is on a Dakota chassis, with an EFI 5.9 Magnum (360) and its computer controlled auto trans. If I don't like the fenderless drive, I will probably add some rear trailer fenders, and try some cycle style fenders that will turn with the front wheels.

In process build pictures, I need to update the pictures. Gene

The cab is really nice and fenders mostly just dents, sat for years in northern WI in a area that's all sand. The C/L photos made it look way worse than what it is. Does have the typical frame rot by the leaf spring hangers in front of the rear axle which is a easy fix and the box I think may be Studebaker.

Rear fenders are real close to perfect with a few small dings, front ones need some love with torch, hammer and dolly. Pass side has a pretty good crunch in it

Love those old Dodge trucks. Here is mine, 1942 with Fat Man front suspension, 8 3/4 rear end with 69 roadrunner springs, late model 360 magnum and 904 tranny. I used the original frame but I boxed it in.

1/2 ton to 1 ton use the same fenders. 1 1/2 ton and bigger has fenders with larger openings and the running boards are not attached.
39-40 have the headlights set close together. 41-47 have the headlights far apart and also have a recess for the headlight bucket stamped into the fender.

Great looking trucks in this thread!

I have a '41 with a 318/904 on the stock straight axle suspension. I'm adding the Scarebird kit for disc brakes on the front. I have a long ways to go on it. Anything sheetmetal seems difficult to locate for these trucks. It took years to even locate a replacement leaf spring for the front end.

We are fortunate with this era Dodge trucks. This is the cab/chassis most of the WW2 Dodge military trucks were built from. The military trucks have a huge following, so parts are still being reproduced by a few good companies.
www.vintagepowerwagons.com reproduces a lot of mechanical parts that work on our civilian trucks. www.robertsmotorparts.com also reproduces a lot of civilian truck parts, when your looking for new stuff, I go to each of them 1st. Being the reproduction people, almost everyone that offers parts from these trucks get them there, mark up the price and sell it to you. However, there are some smaller operations that also reproduce parts for these (and other Dodge trucks), these two are the major suppliers, but not the only suppliers.

A lot of the mechanical parts can still be bought new, maybe reproduction, but pretty accurate stuff, some with improvements built in to correct the original flaws.

Unfortunately, most body stuff (and nearly any other repoed part) is made on short runs, if you happen to be in the market as a run is going on, its your lucky day. After the production run ends, the parts become scarce (and pricey) until the next run is made. The only reproduction fenders I've seen are fibreglass, and also fall under the short run issues.
