I have a CSR on a 727 in a A body. I have the stock floor, so I had to roll/beat the lip where the firewall seam meets the floor pan. Fits nicely once you get everything clearanced. I like it better than the trans blanket I had.

I like and used the blankets after fighting a CSI shield in a A body,1971 Duster, with the BB moved back one inch from stock on the trans crossmember shruggy work

I like a blanket 'cause I personally saw a shield turn into a yellow ball of yarn that did NOTHING to prevent fragments from coming through the floor. Driver almost lost his foot.

Many of you heard me tell that above story before.

The drivers foot and toes basically turned black, and the doctor was prepping to remove a large part of it when he brushed across the toes. The patient groaned when that happened, and then the doctor did it again.

At this point the driver said why did you do that again? Doctors reply, you can feel that? Well, then, we need a different approach...…

Do you have trans. temp issues with Blanket? I'm not opposed to a blanket aside from the temp issue

NO! grin
That's is not to say you won't have any heating issues though shruggy work My current bracket car with a glide that now stalls around 5600 RPM against the brake runs under 150 F all the time at the track, I have to warm the tranny up against the brake to get heat into the fluid shruggy

CSR.... covers my “needs” for 9sec passes per the rules. Provides both trans and flex plate protection..... per the rules. Small block/727 combo I said f’it and cut the trans tunnel out. Even guys I talked to with 904 said it was TIGHT. I’m currently changing to 904 and have had a shield on order since July 2nd. Luckily I’ve had little ambition to get the car runnng, but f I did, I’d a thrown my old Lofgren blanket on it and called it good.

...my personal thought with a 727 is DONT GO to the track with a stock drum. I also feel a properly installed blanket is worlds above the CSR shield. It’s ability to absorb the shock/explosion makes much more sense.... hangup on the blanket is that I’d still need the required “flex plate/flywheel” sheild, so CSR it is.

One advantage of the shield has is that it only needs to be recertified every five years, the blankets are every two years.

If you get a blanket Stroud Safety well recertify theirs, not everyone will.

Stroud will custom make them also. As alluded to above if you are in the nines you will need a SFI flexplate and flexplate shield.

I run the CSR shield. I had one on my cuda's 727 when it exploded 10 years ago and it did it's job protecting me. No complaints here.

Basically your only options are the CSR shield or a blanket in a stock body car. I prefer the shield.

When building the car I opened up the tunnel. Worth the time and effort. Aluminum shield fits easily. Trans removal is also easy. No worries of whether the carbon shield will do the job.

the CSR shield solves both the transmission and Flywheel rule - actually has two SFI numbers on it - as with all safety products some minor adjustements needed - as in get the BFH out of the tool box!

I’ve only talked with folks that run divisional/national level that have been inspected closely. I passed on a used 904 CSR a couple months ago... wish I would have jumped on it.
