It had TCI #940100. Pain in the but to get the trans out (my motor is slid back). I took it off. No one has even questioned it. That being said I'm going to make a small mod and reinstall it this winter. I've seen to many ring gears come off in the last year.

Taking my Challenger apart this weekend to replace the flexplate with new and thought I would send in both my shields (I keep one as a spare) and let the car be down whilst I get all certs done as I am looking at selling it but they just emailed back and if the shield is over 10 years old and/or been re-certified before it's a NO go. Was also thinking of selling both as non-recertable and buying a new shield but sounds like they (new) shields are UN-availible? shruggy runaway

If you just use a blanket, your supposed to still have a flywheel shield.
My heap has a shield with the HEMI set back 2 inches.

That’s good to know Keith.... my 727 sheild is up, but I’ve never recerted it.... I’m still waiting for my 904 sheild. I wish I had one of those aluminum shields to see if it would clear my 2 piece trans tunnel. What I probably should REALLY do is cancel the order and just run my blanket. Not like they check in the racing I do.

I would LOVE to hear any of the shield suppliers reasoning behind NOT re certing a older shield that is uNdamaged and uNmodified part .. OTHER THAN being able to dip into your wallet again !!

That guy down there CSR is a piece of work. When I went to get mine recerted the second time, he gave me all kinds of grief. I had already sent it down there because I never dreamed of there being a problem. You basically couldn't tell this thing from new. He kept telling me he couldn't recert it because of this or that. None of it made sense. I kept on him for a legitimate reason. He finally came up with that after so many years the carbon fiber starts to lose its strength. After that he recerted it just to get rid of me. But I've talked to other people and he won't do a second recert. I not an expert so I couldn't tell if that was true or not about the carbon fiber losing its strength.

Obviously it’s due to the extreme humidity where you live!
....of course if it were me we’d blame the dry excessive heat. laugh2

Easy enough. Just don't buy a Carbon shield. If they don't sell any new they won't have to worry about recert.

It’s my take that they don’t sell any.... I’m assuming since I’ve been waiting since July for my 904 peice.

There will be a time when a transmission case can be 3D printed.

I guess that could be done now, but not in something that is strong enough and also light enough.

Never did any CF work but FG gets stronger with age. ESPECIALLY in a higher temp situation.
