We Lost a member yesterday big-block-dave RIP
We lost a great person yesterday, so young too.
I got the phone call that no one wants to get. Dave's wife called me last night telling that Dave (big-bloc-dave) passed away unexpectedly today.
He was a great friend of mine. Sorry I am at a loss of words. Great family man, Loved Mopars - especially 1969 Barracuda Notchbacks. He ran the 440 M code 'Cuda registry. He will be greatly missed. RIP Dave Goodwin big-block-dave.

When the obituary goes out I will attach it.

I'm setting here in a fog of disbelief, he was just on my butt to get my car done for next year. What more of an incentive do I need now than to do it in his memory. Thank you for all you have done for our sport.
RIP buddy.

Not a great day for Mopar fans that's for sure. That is terrible news. My thoughts and prayers with his family and friends.

Very sad news. I talked to him several years ago about his B5 69 340 ‘cuda he had for sale at a very fair price. He also had a survivor ModTop Barracuda. Prayers for his family and close friends angel

Wonder what cause of death was? I met him in Carlisle this Summer. He was nice enough to look me up in the showfield for the debut of my 69 B5 340S fastback. He did not seem out of shape or unhealthy. He was not that old?

Last night I sent this link to Dave's Wife so she could see this. So many of are wives don't see this side of us, I thought it would be nice for her to see and read. I did hear back from her this morning thanking everyone on the forum.

Unfortunately, this does happen, and many times most of us on here won't even know about it and it won't be posted here for viewing.

It was several years ago I was talking with imfixingmopars426 about purchasing a Super Coupe he had for sale. At a point negotiations simply stopped. I figured the deal was not going to come through. About six months later thought I'd give him a shout and see if we could work something out and was informed he was gone, cancer he was fighting finally beat him. Never saw any mention of it here despite his location in MI and his extensive collection of classic mopars. As a casual, online acquaintance through this forum, I never felt it was my place to make an announcement about it as his close friends already knew and were assisting the family.

How many registered members are there here, 10k, 15k, 20k? I'd venture to guess only a couple thousand are really active. Most of us will not hear about most things around most of these people most of the time.

True, but there are quite a few of us on this board that are pretty much experts on certain body styles and Dave was one of them, so there were many of us who listened and took his advice intently. wave

True, but there are quite a few of us on this board that are pretty much experts on certain body styles and Dave was one of them, so there were many of us who listened and took his advice intently. wave

Totally agree, he knew his sh!t about these cars and shared it with us.

I plan on being at Carlisle this year with my M Code Dart. I do not normally drag a car that far but being the 50 Anniversary that is my plan. I have heard they may have something for the cars. Maybe we can get something together to remember him also?

yes I agree, have to find out who to talk to. I wish I took notes when I talked with Dave. He was in contact with someone. I am going to his house maybe his wife found some notes he took.

Ed might know, he runs the show at Carlisle and he and Dave probably talked about it. I will contact Ed and find out. wave

Wow, I'm in shock...RIP Dave! We shared many emails and phone calls regarding 1969 'cudas; Dave knew his stuff regarding 1969 'cudas.

Ed is on from time to time but maybe he doesn’t yet know about Dave? It would be good for someone to touch base with him.

Hey Guys,

I'm totally speechless. I've been pretty busy and don't get on here as much as I used to but I got an email from RoadRunnerJD and he mentioned that Dave had passed. I absolutely couldn't believe it...still can't. My condolences to Dave's family and friends.

I didn't know Dave as well as many of you probably did but I have worked with him several times over the years on M-Code A-Body and Mod Top displays. Always a GREAT guy!!

I've been planning to do a 440 A-Body display in 2019 and was hoping that Dave would be involved again. I ran into Dave just outside of Building T at Carlisle in July and we were both in a hurry but we talked long enough for me to let Dave know that a Reunion was in the works and he let me know that he was 100% on board again. Dave has always been a man of his word and that was all I needed. The Reunion WILL go on and we'll do it in Dave's memory.

Can someone who is close to Dave and his family please contact me directly? My email is EdB@CarlisleEvents.com

If possible, I would like to display at least one of Dave's cars. I know he had a couple and I also know he was trying to sell some of them so I'm not sure what he has left and/or what the family will keep. We'll do the entire 440 A-Body display in Dave's memory and I'll work Dave in as much as I can.

Please feel free to share your thoughts and suggestions regarding how we can honor Dave at Carlisle in July for the 2019 M-Code A-Body 50th Anniversary. Thank you.

Rest in Peace, Dave.

Ed

Thanks Jim! I got the email and will gladly take your help and help from anyone else in the 440 A-Body community. To me, Dave was always "The Guy" when it came to those cars. He knew the cars and the owners. Jim, I know that you know those cars very well too but to me you were always "The Dart Guy" in general so please don't take offense to me referring to Dave as the M-Code A-Body guy.

This year, more than ever, I want to make this an incredible display and I want to do it for Dave.

Thanks!!

Ed

No problem, Ed. Earlier in this post I too referred to him as the A-Body Barracuda guy and I learned a lot from him on the differences and intricacies of the two A-Body's. Whatever you need from me I am up for. I know Dave, the guy who started this post is very knowledgeable also and knew Dave very well, so I hope he is willing to help too! wave

ED,
I went and seen the family Friday and talked a lot. Dave's wife (Gabby) had a lot of car questions about Dave's stuff and whats best to do.(not an easy thing to do) I gave them my suggestion will see. I also told her what you're thinking about doing something for Dave next year at Carlisle. I will stay in tough.

I gave her the link a while ago and she does come on her to read this post. She thanks everyone for their kind words and now knows what Dave went to the Mopar world. Not all wife's see this side of us.
Dave
