So I go out the back door, it's raining, and I hit the unlock button on the fob to unlock my truck. (04, 3500, Cummins, 6 speed.) I realize my wipers started going. They made two swipes and stopped. It shocked me. I hopped in and checked the wiper switch and it was in the off position. The wipers never ran again until I turned them on. Is there some type of sensor on those so they do this or was this some type of anomaly or ???? I don't ever remember this happening before.

My old 04 used to do the same thing. Open the door and the wipers would make a sweep. Went on for years and never got better or worse.

The multi function switch and the wiper motors are notorious on those trucks for doing crazy things.

My '06 wipers occasionally wouldn't shut off. Research showed the most common cause was the wiper switch (stalk) and/or the contacts in the wiper motor. Supposed to be fairly easy to replace the switch and clean the contacts but never did either before I got rid of truck. Kind of that never-think-about-it-until-it-acts-up kind of thing. wink
Cleaning the contacts might be your first choice. work

I always blame the TIPM, everything power related goes through there and they absolutely THE worst piece of crap that was ever perpetrated by Damiler/Chrysler... rant

My 05 did the same thing last month. Crazy. Wiped one time, then stopped. All I did was open the door. It does not have electric locks.
