Guy pitted next to me last weekend with a Hellcat. Stock except tires and tune. Saw him run 10.09@140.

That is amazing that modern stock vehicles are that fast. But they're not inexpensive and "any fool can write a check". I find satisfaction in building a car myself, not just stomping on the pedal smile

Hi all,

I am the son of the owner of the Demon in question. That was the first time out to the track with the car on the first day Thunder Valley was open (horrendous DA). We were using the upgraded parts from the Demon crate including the high octane fuel system and skinny front tires (the factory-stock Nittos on the rear were less than desirable for good traction and we have since moved to using Hoosiers). The car was broken in, but Demon owners are constantly running better times as their cars get more use. We have since gotten the car to run a 10.01 @ 135.79 (1.39 60 foot time) with a DA of 1000 (This time has been recognized as the 7th fastest pass by any STOCK Demon). To those of you criticizing the cars for not running the advertised 9.65, that pass was under PERFECT conditions. I believe the DA was around -1500 when that pass was made. That car also was the most stripped down model with only one seat, no extra sound system, nor the upgraded leather package. Our Demon came more heavily optioned as we did not think we would enjoy racing it as much. Thanks for your time!

PS- Our original 1968 Super Stock Hemi Dart has made it to Thunder Valley since this post was made. We have had suspension issues with it, and we are still getting use to car with this much power. We have not been able to set the car to kill, but we have already made it into the 9.20s.

Good on him. Nice to see him out playing like, it's meant to be played with! A lot of racers will dis spending that kind of money for a car??? But don't mind shelling out 60 large for a new truck???!!!

Welcome aboard and good luck with both cars. I love the way some people think that you can just "Buy" speed. They don't recognize that they are also emissions and safety compliant, come with all the latest touch screen electronic novelties, and free of major wind noise, squeaks, rattles, vibrations. I remember when the 6 speed Challengers first came out. More people complained about the transmission rattling at a rolling idle in first gear, and clunking when letting off the gas at speed.
Keep us posted on those 9's. It's nice to hear some "real world" numbers from real people and not a test piece.

Thank you all, and I will keep you posted! Unfortunately, our track is now closed for the season. Hoping to sort out the Dart in the spring and get it into the 8s. It will be much harder to get the Demon into the 9s than it will be to get the Dart into the 8s due to less than ideal conditions at Thunder Valley.

We would love to travel to other tracks, but we are unfortunately too busy much of the time. We are by no means competitive racers. We go for the fun of using our cars for their intended purposes and meeting great people! Hopefully someday we will make it to some other local tracks.

Yes, the 9.65 pass was made by a professional female driver. Her name escapes me at the moment but she races for Dodge. It was made in the most stripped down model available and the DA was around -1500, I heard.

I follow Ron Silva and his journey of racing his Demon all over the country. He claims his car is getting faster and faster the more miles and passes he gets on it. I want to say I saw him mention some Demon owners getting together in Gainesville FL over the winter to try and duplicate the factory runs.

I believe Ron's car which is stock other than tires has gone 9.83 in good but not ridiculously good air. So in amazing air I don't see the factory claimed ET to be out of reach. What REALLY amazes me is if they really did that on the factory Nitto tire, it seems ditching those is almost required do get the car to hook at all.

Edit, 9.83@137.xx at 650ft DA, He also ran 140MPH @2500DA.

Yes, Ron is very well known in the Demon community. I don't know if the factory pass was on the stock nittos or not (I think it was though!) The nittos work but a set of Hoosiers or MTs work better.
