So what I've got is a bellhousing and clutch from an A-100 van (that had a 3 spd & a 318. I need a new clutch disc..Napa says they have a 10" ...but it's for the /6..hmmm...so far as I can tell it should be the same...23 spline -10" diameter.. Is that right ? It should work just fine? (Fyi..it's going in a little 27 dodge roadster using a 340 & 3spd)

As long as it's 23 spline and 10" it should work. There may be differences in the damper springs or something between the two but otherwise it should be fine.

Welcome to the board.

The Hollander Interchange does show a difference between the /6 10" disc and the V8 10" disc. I suspect, as mentioned earlier, there is a difference in the center hub cushion springs i.e. the recess in the flywheel where the crankshaft bolts are might be smaller in diameter or shallower. shruggy

They have No listing for a V-8 manual trans in an A-100..just a slant six..

But it looks like it is the same clutch. We just pulled one out of a buddies /6 3spd Valiant.. Exactly the same disc. But his is even more worn than mine....

Monroe Washington/Evergreen speedway- fall auto swapmeet..coming soon..Oct.16th-17th.. Maybe I'll find a good one there.. (If not it's only $40. at Napa so..)

Thanks for the help !

V8's are 10.5" not 10"

Why not look for a "newer" model (say 1972 or 73 Duster with 318/4spd) clutch . . .would more than likely be correct for your older A100

273's had 10" clutches as did many FL V8's.

Is he talking about a 273?

No, he is asking about a 318. he clearly stated that Napa shows a different part number for the 318 vs the /6, which is exactly right. Because the 318 has a 10.5" clutch and the /6 has a 10".

that sounds like the /6 one will be the one you need/can use.

My 65 Barracuda was originally equipped with a 273 4 speed. It was definitely a 10" factory clutch. When the 273 got replaced with a 318, it retained the 10" clutch system. When the car left me, it had a 318 with a 10" clutch. The 10 1/2" disc would not have cleared the pressure plate bolt pattern on the flywheel, nor would it had fit in the 10" bell housing.
Anyone after me that would not have known the difference would have sworn that the 318 had a 10" clutch, and they would have been correct, it just wasn't a factory offering.

The 10" V8 bell is about an inch and a half more narrow then a 10 1/2" bell. In the early Barracudas, Darts, and V8 A-100s (I've seen the 10" bells on 65 273 Belvidere's as well) that extra 1 1/2" makes a huge difference in clearance in those narrow bodies. The 10" V8 bells were probably only a year or two production item, and most aftermarket suppliers don't offer much for 1 or 2 year production parts. Gene

Perhaps if you would have stated the 318 V8 uses a 10.5" clutch. Nah, that would add clarity.
