I'm supposed to go look at a couple of 727's tomorrow. They both have part number PK2892093 and what looks like an L after the number. According to the Govier white book, they would be for a 383 or 440 in 68 or 69. One is date coded for 68 and one for 69. Does it matter if this number trans. was originally from a 383 or a 440? I was told once that 383 and 440 727's were internally a little different with the 440 being a little beefier. Is this true? If so, is there a way to tell without opening them up if they were from a 383 or a 440 originally?

a "093" is a "093" it was used for both HP applications
when it was built the final application wasn't known

the '69 could have a full VIN on it, the '68 a partial
what are they and the complete part number assembly date info?

As a general rule, yes, but the 093 is one exception as is the 541 that preceded it.

John---what were the differences in clutch packs and springs on the various 727's?
If I may ask...

Way too many variations to cover in a single reply.

If you could get the vin number off the 69 I am looking for a couple of 093 trannys for my cars that are missing the original trans.
Thanks up
