Can anyone tell me if the rear valence bolts with the captive washer are the same as for attaching the rear muffler heat shields?
Can you tell me what size they are?
Mine are missing.

Are they both 3/4" inch long?

Sammy,

There are a lot of different hardware that holds on the valence so you need to be a little more specific.

Also it's different for if your car was made in LA or Hamtramck

Are you taking about the screws that go into the valence brackets?

Let me know and I'll get you an answer.

They are not the same as the exhaust shields

Thanks, if you look from the rear of the car, it's the 2 bolts that are the lowest right under the cutouts for the exhaust tips.

Sounds like you are talking about the screws that hold the valence to the rear brackets.

Here is where things get ugly. Here is a picture of 70 cuda mounting brackets with the original screws firmly stuck in them. The have an overall length of 0.75" - top of screw head to the end of the screw. The washer is captured but lose.

Below you will see the reference listing that Dave Wise has for the top and bottom. He shows a screw with the washer being a formed part of the screw head. He lists 10-24 with a thread length of 0.625

Now it could be a difference between the two factories, but all my Challengers have had the lose washer type screw.

Hope this helps.

The heat shield bolts are NOT the same as the valance bolts/ studs/ nuts

They ARE the same as the rear axle bumpers and steering linkage shield screws though

I have those screws on the top valance as described in the picture in the book. I need the lowest valance bolts with captive washer attached.

A captive washer is a lose washer.

The top screws and bottom screws should be the same.

Are you saying you need two more screws like what you have in the top?

All of them are 1/4-20.

Heat shield screws are an integral washer head machine screws in clear zinc

Valance hardware is 1/4-20 sems screws and studs with a free spinning captive washers in black phosphate
