I pulled the motor out the other day not knowing anything about it. It was in the '64 car when I bought it. After tearing it down this is what I do know..

ported(max wedge sz) 915 78cc heads and large(very) valves
TRW L2295-30 pistons, sitting .050 down
Racer Brown STH-41 cam(specs unknown)
stock rods w/ARP bolts
stock steel 440 crank

I was planning on a quick freshening up and
switching to the 78cc MP max wedge heads with the 2.14/1.81 valves and a cross ram, Lunati SPG2-322 solid cam(.600),MP Purple Stripe springs and 1.5 roller rockers.

I haven't checked valve clearance yet but thought some of you guys might know off hand how much cam you can get away with using those old pistons and what the comp ratio is.

I checked the spring pressure at the seat on the Purple Stripe springs and they fall below what Lunati calls for... 100-105 lbs vs. 125 lbs at 1.850 installed ht..

Your bearing and ring choice???

maybe deck the block .030 and use a steel shim gasket and you'd have a perfect .040 quench. just a thought!
