My KB block came with 7/16 heads studs. Ken was supposed to make it 1/2" and my heads were drilled for 1/2". Can the block be converted to 1/2 and is it really a necessity to do it. Planning on 12-1, 800 HP build with maybe a 200 shot of nitrous when done. BES said they could do it but the guy on the phone didn't sound super confident when he said it.

Thanks in advance.

Not necessary, but a competent machine shop should be able to do it.An alignment tool for the drill and tap procedure is required to keep holes parallel to the deck.

You don't need 1/2" for your application. It would cost a lot to ship it to a good shop, then again to ship it back. Then it would cost for the work. Then 1/2" studs would be pricy. I would leave it alone.

BES is great. They can do it no problem. The guy prolly just didn't think you needed it.

d7cook...you don't need it. My KB hemi has the std. 7/16" studs and makes over 800 hp NA and I've been spraying 250 hp on it for about 4 years.

I think like the rest of these guys it's no needed. Your heads are fine with the larger holes.

I'd only do the 5 center (long) ones on both sides, if you are going that way.
