Mike Hynes (THESHAKERPROJECT) has being doing some work on my car recently, which included some painting "here and there". I gave him the partially-used quart of PPG Delstar acrylic enamel "1970 Chrysler Code B5" EB5 that came from the previous owner when I bought the car in 1995. It was left over from when -- IIRC -- the engine compartment had been touched up before I bought the car. I definitely remember when I first opened the hood there was the odor of recent painting.

Mike and I both assumed it was going to be the same paint the whole car was painted with, but the parts Mike painted w/ that paint are definitely not a "spot on" match for the car. That got me wondering if the car might have been repainted using '71-73 GB5, instead, considering the car is a '73 (although not originally blue). Anyone have good pictures that can be used to compare the two colors?

Given what my car is (definitely NOT a resto / show car), it's not really worth it to redo what Mike painted with the "right" color, assuming it could even be matched properly. However, I'd still like to know if this might be the reason for the unexpected mismatch. Thanks - Brad

A color shift can also be induced by the primer/sealer base/shade value used, the same blue painted over a red primer vs a light gray primer will have to distinct color shifts, could this be the case?

I can't rule out anything at this point. However, the '70 vs '71/'73 B5 cars on the page linked above shows -- and I'm not great with colors -- what looks pretty similar to the difference between my two paint colors.
