I looked on ebay to get an idea of prices for this model... eek

Are these dirty challengers REALLY pulling $80 or higher?

Mine was a wedding gift. I was told it had been bought new, but it was missing the shipping tape over the doors and hood. I took it out of the box once when I first got it to take a closer look and found that the hood hinge and passenger mirror is broken.

Aside from that one time, it's always been in the box.

What's a realistic value on this? shruggy

Thanks!

I think eBay is a good measure for what people are paying but having damage probably cuts the value in half. Don't lie, you played with it and broke it. LOL!

Can't help on the value, sorry. I bought the clean version when they came out. Never took it out of the box. It is inside my TV stand for display.

Isn’t it some kind of bad luck to sell a wedding gift? In that condition it will be a tough sell unless the damage you described is actually part of the “patina”, or you got the ultra rare extra damaged version. Probably $30 or so.

What, like my ex will decide she wants me back? panic

I know where it was bought, so I'm thinking it was displayed out of the box. It was a little shop (now out of business) that sold nothing but diecast. They had a habit of displaying popular models out of the box.

I may throw it on ebay for $50 and see what happens. Yes, it is damaged, but the damage doesn't affect it being displayed in the box.

I've got a number of Ertl 1:18 I got back in the 90s era, and I've found there's a limited market for them these days. The 1:18 models of recent years like Rt 61 are so much more detailed compared to the Ertl ones.
You can try listing it on eBay but don't hold your breath waiting for buyers. I've advertised a couple limited edition Ertl cars in the last year here and on eBay and got no interest.

I know interest is way down on 1/18 stuff. I simply don't want the car anymore, I'm not trying to cash in. That being said though, I don't want to simply drop it in a goodwill drop box either.

I've got three other 1/18 cars, this is the most valuable of the bunch.

I have one of the dirty V.P. cars also along with about 70+ other 1:18 cars my kids always buy me for Father's day, Birthday''s and Christmas gifts. Mine are priceless to me but it is just another $30-$40 die cast car in value I think.
