New re chromed bumper to install on my Polara.
Have to remove existing bumper and install new.
What is the best way to do it,can I just remove bumper bolts?
Or do I have to remove the brackets mounted to the frame.
This is on your back work by a senior citizen with some help.

Thanks

I would unplug the lights and unbolt the brackets to remove bumper. Then you can get to all the bolts

as said, remove the bolts from the brackets bolted to the front rails after unplugging the park lights, then remove the whole assembly. it is good you have an assistant. they can help prevent any scratches or dings in the removal/installation process as well as being a second set of eyes when setting the new bumper to proper clearance and leveling from side to side. another thing to consider. don't "crank up" the bumper bolts too tight, as i have seen this cause depressions to appear around the bolts, as well as sometimes this causing the chrome to crack there as well.

If like here better soak the bolts real good.Typically they have been in for decades and rusty. One of the 65s I had I needed heat to remove a few.Luckily I have impacts.Rocky
