This might not actually happen but, whatever...Call me a dreamer LOL.

Considering a possible 572 Hemi pump gas build, someday.

Probably end up less than 11:1, and will use the older non-edelbrock Mopar aluminum heads with decent prep. For a street/strip B or E body kind of combination.

I'm looking at a couple shelf cams and am wondering if anyone ever used them....

First is the Lunati 310/310. Anybody use it?

I was also looking at this Crower Street Roller, the cam specs look close to where I want to be but Crower specs a spring with over 700lbs open pressure(?). There must be a reason why...I'd be more comfortable with maybe 600 open or less for this kind of thing.

Isky 590 anyone?
Racer Brown stuff?

Just fishing wondering how the older products would work out in a big CI application. I never hear of anyone doing this...

thoughts?

street strip b body, 2 and 1/8" hooker super comps, 4.10 dana, 4500 converter and so on.

Never used either can but keep i mind, these cams are probably spec'd for a 426 and will respond way differently in a 572.

If it were me, Id get in touch with Bullet cams or have Dwayne Porter; they can spec you a grind for your application that wont be too hard on the lift rate and require less spring for a dual purpose ride.

Its not just the amount of lift but the RATE of lift that requires a specific spring, perhaps the Crower cam has a more aggressive lobe and needs more spring to control it.

Hemi valvetrains normally need more spring to control them anyway due to the mass.

Zippy...what you're planning sounds an awful lot like my motor. 572 w/ older MP heads, 11:1, and 600 psi open pressure. Dwayne spec'd my cam.

I'm currently using the next size smaller Crower roller cam and it's great for a street/strip cam. If you're interested, I also have a custom Crower roller cam that I bought from someone that had it made for a street/strip 572 hemi that he was putting together with similar specs to the one you've referenced. I'd be will to let that one go pretty cheap since I don't have any near-term plans to use it. It's new.

ps. I'm definitely not opposed to calling an expert...

For the time being I'm just fishing for whatever is on the shelf and trying to study others' builds and see what they've got.

Isky 590 solid? Racer brown rollers? I notice RB has quite a selection but not sure how easy it is to obtain.

I ran the old Isky .590 in one of my old 440 builds. it ran real strong. I then eventually stepped up to a .650 solid roller on the street. Man, did that motor turn a lot of heads and piss people off at the lights since they couldn't hear while on their cell phones. LOL.

I am now even much larger than that on my little ole 528" Hemi.

I have an old, (but new...never ran) Isky Hemi cam .536/270 @ .050 on 106 that I always thought would be a good cam for a big inch street deal.
