Through 5 years, I've gone through 3 fuel pumps while driving just the occasional lap around the neighborhood. Pretty stockish setup. New tank and sender worked fine for a year, and I'm fairly good about keeping good gas in it. I have not removed the original gas lines but have of course replaced all the rubber lines. I seem to be able to blow my lungs through them OK.
So are today's replacements just junk, especially with ethanol? Are any known to be better quality?
Lucky for me, my no-start situations have occured in the garage, and twice a fresh pump fixed it. I'm holding off on buying pump #3 til I hear back from yous folks.

I would say a combination of ethanol & general poor quality these days. I don't have a recommendation but if you get a name for one made in the good ole US of A that'd be the way I would go.

You could call the Edelbrock tech line and ask if their pump 1720 is alcohol compatible, 1-800-416-8628. Info online doesn't say, though for the Holley pump it does say not compatible, but I suspect they mean 100% not E10.

I have run into this very issue myself with off the shelf stock pumps.

I have been using the Holley small block pump for years with no problems. The diaphragm is super thick. May be too much pressure for stock carb I dunno. I have a holley carb.

We use nothing but Holley pumps.Had 3 bad Carter hi buck pumps bad in a rwo.2 BBs 1 SB.Will admit one lasted a week.Put my 30 year old Holley on and it still worked. The one on my 440 has been on 20 years now.My kids 360 has been on the same.Still work great.Remans depends on the reman company.Used quite a few at work and had no problems.Going thru that many pumps something is wrong.Do they just quit leak etc?Rocky

A no name fuel pump from some Ebay seller who is so savvy that this is quote from the listing

"Surface Finish: MADE FOR UNLEADED ETHANOL GAS"

I would hope that cast aluminum and sheet metal could handle ethanol.

Try googling the manufacturer and PN and verify it. Good luck.

Just get a DELPHI MF0010 at rockauto, it specifically says "including alcohol fuels and blends" and it's substantially cheaper than some mystery Ebay seller.

I had similar issue, going through pumps on my 340.
Finally figured out the fuel filter shouldn't be installed before the pump.
After I moved the filter to the factory spot, no more issues.

Summit has a Carter built stock looking unit, about $20, lots of good reviews. If it craps out, then I'll up the $$ to a Holley unit. Really trying to keep things stockish looking tho.

The Delphi unit I posted is stock looking, cheaper than the Carter and listed as being ethanol compatible. Not sure why you want to keep rolling dice.
