All,
I’m thinking of running a 10” rim on back of my Demon.
Stock wheel well and stock wheel tub, springs moved in 3”.
Have a deal,on 15x10” with 4 1/2” backspace.

I’ve run 15x8” in the past with 4 1/2” backspacing, wondering if the 2 extra inches will rub on either inside or outer wheel well.

Pics appreciated.

Thank you!

Wally.

I am pretty sure those cars (Duster/Demon) have the biggest A body fender wells around. With the same backspacing you should have the same clearance you had on the inside. Do you remember if you had over two inches left on the outside with your 15x8 wheels?

Maybe?, depending on the housing width. I had the same, springs in the frame, stock 67 b-body rear and 10" wheels. Mine had 6" backspace and about 3/4 clearance. I had 29.5 slicks so the front edge of the wheel well moved foward about 2". (Big hammer)
My Duster now will have 15x10x 5" backspace rims with stock spring position, a-body width housing. Front part has been reworked also.
Might add those 4-1/2 wheels puts the tire very close to outside wheel lip if down at stock height.

Well, back when I ran the 15x8’s the car had a B-body rear and from what I recall, they were real close to the outer lip.
I’m thinking a 15x10 with 4 1/2” backspacing will put the tire too far out
(Just thinking out loud in my head???)

I suppose I’m looking for pics if anyone has used this exact wheel with stock wheel well.

Thanks all for the info!

Draw a full scale cross section of what you have now including the leaf spring to tire distance, wheel lips to tire distance etc and then tape it to a window in your house.

Then draw up a 10" wide rim and tire, also at full scale, and overlay it over the first one you drew and you can easily see if it will fit or not.

If you have access to a cad drawing program this overlay method works great too.

Personally I would rather have an 8" rim with a wider tire and some old school sidewall bulge vs a 10 rim and a smaller tire that looks pinched inward.

My old 72 demon I had 275/60-15 BFGs they filled up the wheelwell pretty good. I didn’t feel like I’d be able to fit more tire without moving the springs over. I had an 8” rim iirc

Again it depends on what rear you have. 8-3/4 with sbc axels, 8-3/4 with bbc. They will be an inch different each side.
The pics are both my wheels (weld 2.0 & Bogarts with 9.0 slicks) came off a Duster E/Stocker with stock housing width, 15/10 and both show 4-1/2 back spacing. The drawing shows the measurements of layout of a Duster. Plus the opting of the front of wheel well to 31" fit the 30" tall slicks Hope this helps
