would the transmission behind a 2001 V-10 in a 2500 2wd pickup be an A518 ? if so, would a forward pattern trans-go TFOD-3 race/manual shift kit still require the computer to operate correctly ? as always, TIA. bow

it is a 47re trans , so it depends on inputs from governor sensor and tps and speed sensor and others to determine shift strategy, so yes it does need a tcm to control it, Im sure someone has developed something I just don't know who

The TFOD-3 is a manual shift conversion and therefore bypasses the governor and speed sensor control but still needs electrical input for OD and lockup.

Are you planing on using it behind a v10? The bell housing wont fit a v8 if that is the plan.

CRT has full manual shift trans brake valve bodies for them. Manual control of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and O/D. You can have lockup too on a switch.

thanks guys ! was considering this as a possible core transmission, with changing out the bell to a JW unit. also considering a cope valve body. using the trans-go kit, would the electrical input needed be like that on a 47RH, and could that be done with toggle switches ? not much to be had around these parts in a 47RH core, and i really don't want to travel a couple hundred miles to pick one up. the one i'm asking about is a good transmission, but it's been on the local junkyard's shelf for a looong time, hence the core price of $100.00. other thoughts ?

john kunkle answered my question. switches can be used to engage OD and lockup.
