I picked up a low mileage 5.9 24v cummins to put it into an old jeep. I picked up a dodge transmission to bolt onto it. When I tried to put it together the snout on the crank is like 3 inches long.

When I google photos of the stock 5.9 24v it looks different than my engine.

Any advice on how to correct this?

I was thinking about cutting it off with a bandsaw....

It was bolted to an Allison transmission when I bought it.

Why not use the Allison transmission?

no overdrive and no parking brake. Not a solution for a daily driver.

i think that you have an adapter on the end of your crank that mates up the allison---dont let it fall off on your toe-----also on the 4bt site there are guys always looking for the high mount AC unit and the air compressor found on those bus motors---good score...

hopefully it is a removable adapter as you need to be able to put the converter in the hole in the end of the crank so just cutting it off flush wont work.

Just as a side note, the converter registers into the flex plate and not the crankshaft.

If that water valve on the back of the head gets in the way it can be removed. There’s a large core plug in the pickup version.
