Anybody running a Hughes Whiplash Cam in a smogger 440? How do you like it?

Look on youtube.I seem to remember some idle videos and burnout videos years ago.It may take more than 12 hours for most to see the post.

Yea I've seen the stuff on YouTube, was just hoping to talk to someone that had first hand experience with one..

I have one in a fresh 440 in my '64 Polara. Not quite to the point of first start yet but will come sometime in the next couple weeks. Will report then.

The 440 in my Polara is now running. Had a great first start with 80 psi oil pressure and broke in the cam. Basic timing is set but will need to dial in the distributor advance and do some carb tuning. That said, so far I really like it. Video below is with 14* initial timing and about 28* at 2000 rpm. Stock manifolds, 2 1/2" exhaust and Cherry bomb turbo mufflers.

yep bone stock 78 MH 440 in my 88 d100. I love mine on the street.

I ended up with the dist mech advance locked out on 0* and set at 36* with 10" vac in N and about 7-8 inches in drive. idles 750 rpm in gear 900 in N


run a 750cfm edelbrock

2nd lightest pop up spring
prim jet/rod stock
2ndary jet swap to .113 4 stage rich

holley street dominator intake

hedman 79250 headers/3" pipes/muffs dump in front of axle

stock 727 low stall TC

A-body 8 3/4 3.23sg 29x15x15 M/Ts

also run the 5.2 magnum whiplash roller cam in my pre-mag roller cam 318 and building a 360 headed 318 with the 5.9 whiplash roller cam.

did I mention I like the whiplash cams ? best bang for the buck with a lopo daily driver mopar.
