I just discovered my SPD 9/10/1968 Road Runner is missing the original water pump. I've look/asked around and noticed a couple different styles. Also, I'm no expert on date codes so I don't know what to look for there.

Curious what you guys have seen on your original cars?

Below a few pics of what I'm seeing...

This pump below is seen on a Lynch Road built 1969 GTX, P/N #2943290 ->

This pump below is from a 1968 Chrysler Newport with a 383 no/AC, P/N #2943290 ->

Below, same Newport pump as above; eight fins ->

More numbers on the Newport pump on the fin side: 301 and 4 over OS

I do no think you will get a good answer on this. I have asked before. There are quite a few variations and many do not have date codes. If you do a search you may find some old post with pictures.

Just because a WP is on a motor that looks old and original does not mean it is. I have rebuild many and when you clean them up, the bearing shaft is over sized meaning they were rebuilt before.

Either variation of the wp you showed would work.

Pretty much what DS said. Most of just use the thin neck pump as it's near impossible to figure out what logic Mopar used

Pulley covers it up so you can't see much anyway. Who's gonna take it off to check?
