I have a dumb question and I hope you folks can help me with it. I getting ready to install new carpet in my car and I have NO idea how this console comes out without busting it up. Do any of you know where exactly all the mounting points are? It seems to be bolts hidden up underneath but I'm not certain and this thing is old and I really don't want to bust it up. Thanks folks.

Remove the woodgrain, there's a few screws hiding under there, plus 2 inside the rear console compartment when you open the door, located on the "floor" of the compartment

circled in PINK are your console floor brackets hiding under your console, circled in YELLOW is the bracket for your SlapStik shifter mechanism

Ok. Thank you very much! I just wanted to make sure before I bust it up. Previous owner looks like he glued the woodgrain part down to console

You should have 4-5 screws holding the woodgrain plate down, unless someone laminated a custom "wood" cover over it?

Do you know the story with the 5th screw hole in the top wood grain plate.
Was this found only on the 1971 and later consoles? I once heard that only the 1970 consoles had the 4 screw tops.
