Mainly Koni of course.

On May 6th I ordered 2 Koni front struts and 2 Koni rear shocks for a BMW. Summits site said only 1 front strut in stock and the rest on back order till 5/25. Fair enough, I can live with that, and there's a $30 rebate for purchases by 5/31.

I received the 1 front strut. June came around and I called Summit. They said the back order is now 6/15--what am I gonna do, already paid for the order...
Last week I get the shipping anouncemen--great!!

Receive the remaining three units today. Direct from Koni. Rear shocks are fine.
The front strut does not match the front strut I received from Summit
The configuration of the top of the tube is different. Plate vs rubber cap.
The new strut came with a hardware kit (including a unique beveled washer/spacer and the summit unit did not.
The orange paint is different--very different, orange vs red-orange.

Salt in the wound the rebate states the form must be postmarked within 30 days of purchase............how the hell can I do that when its on back order for 6 weeks???

I called Summit, they are going to call Koni Monday morning...........you can bet so am I.
I've been waiting for this for seven weeks.

They are probably going to tell me the wait was due to model year or a revision. I will very unpolitely ask them if Pirelli sent them three tires of one version and one of another would they be OK with that?
This is KONI I am dealing with after all.
oh boy....

Sounds like my luck buying things. I would think they would all understand and somehow you would still get a rebate or refund, and a strut to match the other three.

I don't order anything unless the full set is available. Been through this mess too many times before.

Kind of makes you wonder how Summit ended up with only 1 strut and not at least a pair of them. Maybe they keep sending this one strut out, hoping someone won't care if the other side doesn't match. Gene

Ugh, that's just the worst... nothing more frustrating than having expectations destroyed..

No matter how hard you try avoiding the problem, checking online parts info, specs, photos, etc... then get the wrong part..

Wasn't more than 10 years ago NAPA/O'Reilly, etc had ample stock of exact OEM replacement parts right in their warehouse.. MC's, Alternators, brake shoes, brake cylinders, brake hoses, PS pumps, Water pumps, headlights, starters ..all that stuff.

..made in Merica, and it all fit perfectly.

Sounds like me too. Seems like anything cool like this that I finally decide to buy (after a lot of research), it turns into a QUEST rather than a normal procedure!

Id relax a bit, let summit find out what they can do and if its not proper send all back and start over.

Ive not heard many over the years have summit tell them to kick mud, the few issues ive had with them they went way over the top to fix it.
