I just bought a set of split mono leafs and caltrac bars for my cuda that I'm in the middle of installing. I put the front caltrac bar bracket on the front of the leaf spring and when I go to put the front spring hanger over the bracket, I have about 1/8" of play side to side and only three threads showing on the bolt. Is this normal? Stock factory spring hangers. I didn't tighten anything down, but I find it hard to believe that the spring hanger is meant to be cranked in until it is tight and there is no play.

I had a local 8.5 guy who knows some of the fastest leaf spring guys in the country, first thing he did was tighten everything up...In 4 passes I went from blowing the tires off to pulling the fronts.

I did not question what he did...

I would not want to crush that I would give Calvert a call first thing in the morning it might be something as simple as a couple washers and a longer Bolt

They have different length spacers. I'd call Calvert and pick up 1/8" longer spacers, or maybe try to stick a washer in there.

When I moved my springs into the frame I also made the boxes. They were a little wide so I used washers take up the space. They've been on the car for almost ten years with no issues.

Is the bolt in the photo short or just the way the photo was taken? I used grade 8 fine thread bolts and nylocks.

Once tightened, there should be roughly 1/16" of side gap, as so nothing binds and can pivot freely. The bolt looks to be a bit short in the pic.

I called calvert and they said that it is normal; 1/16" side gap as posted earlier. The bolt in the picture is the same length as the factory bolt. I just grabbed some bolts that are 1/2" longer to replace those.
