My Dakota has a 155000 mile V6 and I have a 07 5.7 on the stand + wiring, no pcm. I talked with my trans guy and he said the trans would work fine but I need to know what other things I'll need to do the swap. I'll try to use exsisting cable TB. I'm thinking truck pan and intake.? Not sure about exhaust but just stock stuff.
Ideas?

4X4 or 4X2?
Your pcm will run the 5.7 you will need to tune it though.
Mounts will need to be made.
Stock truck pan will work if you trim the cross member. This would be for a 4X2 truck.
Mopar make a Cable operated TB that bolts on.

4x4 will that be a problem? I would like to use the mds lifters for gas millage. Maybe a toggle switch.

There is lots more to the MDS than just the lifters. When it kills those cylinders it also kills those injectors, and then it adds more throttle angle(drive by wire). When it goes from 8-4 it obviously loses lots of power so it kicks in more throttle to prevent you from noticing. If you own a truck with MDS and you know all of these things you can feel them happening but it is pretty invisible.

FWIW I am not sure how much the MDS really helps mileage. I had an 08 1500 4x4 and if I left it in tow haul(MDS OFF) it got almost exactly the same mileage as it did when the MDS was active. My commute isn't very long though.

My SRT 392 gets better mpg with those lifters. The last trip of 400 miles at 70-75 mph I got 24.6 mpg. That's checking actual gallon's used divided into miles run not the lie gauge. I've done this trip over five times checking each time. A friend has a Scat Pac 6 speed and can't get the millage I can so the lifters must work.

When it kills those cylinders I can also give it more pedal myself just like the computer does to maintain speed.
