Depends on the formula. Chlorinated contains methylene chloride and that is the 98% ingredient in paint stripper. Dulls powder coating and can weaken thin film areas. Others, non chlorinated, contain varying amounts of acetone. More acetone the faster it drys and can dull finish. Best best is wax wash that has naptha or napthalene as first ingredient.Removes oil, grease and road contamination. Won't hurt the powder coating. This is when you find out where someone has fixes a chip or scratch with a rattle can.

Use Pledge. That's what my powder coater swears by and I've had good luck with it.

That stuff is not all the same. I use CRC Brakleen in the red can on anything I don't want to damage - tools with plastic handles, paint, powder coating - with no issues so far. The rest of it is hit or miss. Most of the cheap stuff is mostly acetone which is a great cleaner, but no good for paint or plastic. I've also used Pledge and Windex.

We use windex on that type of thing. It also is a degreaser. Use it in the paint booth as a final clean up on surfaces as well.

Years ago, I had a buddy come in the shop one day when I had the car field striped, up on stands and I was underneath of it with a towel and a can of Pledge, wiping it down. He thought that was the craziest thing he had ever seen and still tells people about when describing how anal I am.
