I was wondering if someone could decode a vin number for me. It is RM23UOA161602 And if a 1970 superbird came with an 8 3/4 rear in it? Thanks for any help

according to my books it was the 189 bird built and was shipping on 11-12-69 and yes they came with 8 3/4 if it was an automatic.

That's a real Superbird VIN.

If its an automatic, it should have a 8 3/4.

I found this car in a very obscure ad.Went to look at it and verified most of the info already. The id plate on the fender is very rusted and difficult to read, I still cannot tell if is an J6 or J5 color but everything else checkes out I was unsure of the diff.It is very rusted but salavageble

No Superbirds are J6. Only FJ5. This car is not listed in our database as a survivor until now. If you can read the last two lines of the fender tag, that would be helpful. Turning the tag upside down may help.

Wow...thats all the evidence you need to list a car as a survivor??? Not even any pics?

Sure, pics are even better. If they are not possible, we'll take whatever we can to get started.

Wow! My old Superbird was RM23UOA161592 Looks like yours was right behind it coming down the line. The one I had is a limelight, bench seat automatic car. Hope it turns out well for you.

That's a real Superbird VIN.

If its an automatic, it should have a 8 3/4.

Hey Doug, what's the deal with the name change? Going undercover on us or something?

Nah, no undercover work. Just time for a change.

yea the car is rough, no engine or trans, i looked at it as well and posted here, then the seller joined and posted as well. car looks legit and has been sitting rotting for years. to bad.

to much work for me to take on at this time.

i really liked the welded in front bumper supports, someone save that car or whats left of it.

good luck, you should mediablast the csr and see what is left, there were a lot of good superbird specific parts on it still. did you get the manifolds, power steering pump etc? Are you getting the SS wagon with engine as well?
