Doing an inspection on my 605” Hemi street/strip car. Have about 3000 miles on the motor. Anything I should look for? Hemi valve train is like jewelry for gear heads.

Just the normal stuff. Look down in the lifter valley with a flashlight the best you can for anything that looks wrong. Look at the pushrod tips for heat discoloration. Spin the pushrods with your fingers to see if they're bent. Look for broke valve springs. Sometimes these are hard to see. Make sure the valve seals haven't rose up off the guide. Retorque the rocker shaft bolts. (If yours are 5/16" it's 22 ft lbs. If they are 11/32" it's 30 ft lbs.) The rocker plate bolt torque is 50 ft lbs. Spin/look at the rocker roller tips. You can retorque the heads if you want to.

Pink stripes on the springs?
That's usually K-Motion.
Any idea what part number the springs are?
If they're H-11 material, I'd be leary of them after 3000 street miles.

Thank you for the input guys. Great ideas. I have a little bore camera I can use to see in the valley with. I don’t know much about the motor. This is why I’m concerned. It does have a billet crank, Oliver rods and JE pistons in a KB block with jesel belt drive so I’m assuming the lifters (solid roller) and other parts are good quality also.

Is there a difference between the colors on design? Mine are burgundy. I don’t believe there is a difference. I think Barton just anodized them different colors.

You can retorque the heads if you want to. That's all I do whenever I have the covers off once or twice a year to check the valve lash. When you decide to freshen it up, you'll most likely find the guide clearance is sloppy now. Unless the geometry on the Barton rocker system is a big enough improvement over the stock style stuff that they don't kill valveguides as bad. I have KB stands and DLI roller rockers on mine.

Colors may be a way to determine ratio's? Mine are 1.6 int / 1.6 exh if it matters. (or maybe it is just different batch or years they make them? As one of my buddies said I only bought the blue rockers because they matched my car. LOL. (I didn't know they were going to be blue).
