im building another boosted gen3 hemi car,(70 cuda)in my last car(68 barracuda) i ran a 727, and at low boost it made over 600 at the wheel,
on this build i will be looking at over 1k at the wheel.
i really want to run an overdrive this time, but which one, and who would you have build it? i want to stick to a mopar trans that will easily bolt to a smallblock bolt pattern.. thank

Assuming automatic then the only option is a 46RH, gonna need a lot of upgrades but I think it could be made to work.

I would have ProTrans (Lancaster CA) build a 727 and then put a Gear Vendor OD on it.

I think the only one capable and reliable at that level is going to be a GearVendors. They have a shorty version now maybe 2. One uses the 4x4 output shaft so it should be pretty close to stock length. They also have one that uses the truck/motorhome trans that is 7 inches longer than a stock 727.

I would call a diesel place like Goerand or someone like that. They are building OD transmissions that hold up reliably behind 1000+lb/ft cummins engines towing over 20,000 lb loads. The bell housing and converter should be the only difference I would think.

Measured length is with the GV installed. I see I wasn't clear on that.

Build a 46RE and use my trans brake with reverse manual valve body, had harden shafts, Billet drum ect and 1000+ HP is no problem.
Here is my sales pitch:
P NR 1 2 3 4. shift pattern.
NO kick down linkage
NO shift solenoids
NO governor sensors
NO controlle module
CRT has the only trans brake valve body with all gears on the manual valve & Lock up in any & all gears
also fits RH and all RE transmissions.

Can you out the power to it in OD as well or should it only be used for cruising?

All good replies here. Biggest problem is that you still need a shield if your doing any sanction racing.
REID case with GEAR VENDOR OD.

This would be my choice also despite not wanting to go with a gm trans.

Are tunnel mods required for a 46RE into an E Body ?

Not on all E bodys are the tunnel mods needed, I know first hand but they do all need a modified cross member.
