I'm looking for a replacement pan for my 904. The car is just a driver so I don't need anything crazy, just a stock stamped steel replacement. The current pan leaks because it's probably warped from 40 years of being taken on and off a number of times.

I know there are other Mopar transmissions that used the same pan, so maybe something is still available through a dealer?

dealer has a replacement for newer trans that is a little deeper

a500 is 904 based

a518 is 727 based

IIRC runs about 60$ at the dealer

grab one of the newer style pan gaskets also.

they are no leak and reusable multiple times.

Be sure the pan gasket is the source of the leak, leaks from above often run down to the pan gasket before dripping off. The shift shaft seal and dipstick tube are often the leak source.

If it is the gasket, try the new style mentioned above...it seals bent pans better.

I'll look at it again, but it appears to be wet around the gasket. However, while the pan is off it would be a good time to replace the other 2 seals.

I had the dipstick tube leak and thought it was pan gasket.

Changed my pan and gasket 4 times before figuring out it was the pivot pin leaking

Get one of these and never look back. You can get them at the dealer but they cost more. The dealer claims that you need longer bolts, since the gasket is thicker, but I have one on my car and used the standard bolts.

Trans Pan Gasket

They don't leak and are reusable with no gasket material required. $35 seems like a lot for a gasket but it's money in the bank.

Looks like a 727 gasket to me.

Ooof, it is. I had been reading this post before but I forgot that it was a post about a 904.

Sorry
