My 1970 Cuda manual steering box has a slow drip and I hate that. Does anyone make a rebuild kit for a manual steering gear box? I see them for the power units but not for manual. If not, how do you fix it short of buying a rebuilt unit? Thanks

I believe the gears in a 1970 manual steering box are greased. There is no fluid needed if greased properly.

The seals are "off the shelf" items at any bearing supply place. I don't think anyone makes the top gasket.

I'm pretty sure I bought the paper seal for the 'top' from Firmfeel or mancini.

The drip is fairly common over time. The oil you see is probably a portion that has seperated from the other components of the grease. When you replace with fresh grease that will help as much as any seals. Yes, sometimes in service the grease will be topped off with some fresh oil. Of course that doesn't mix in perfectly and some makes its way to the bottom of the sector gear shaft.

The drip is more likely a worn seal than oil separation. Let's face it, the steering box see's a lot of use and the bottom seal is well exposed to dust, water, etc..
