intake manifolds are different, the '94 has EGR, the '96-up don't.
injectors are different, 94 are ~23lb/hr, 96-up are ~19lb/hr
ECU is different.
van front accessory drive is slightly different that a full size trucks, too.
that said, you should be able to take the newer motor and swap the older motor's intake/injectors on and you're good to go.

Good luck. We are doing a similar swap, but a 96 318 Mag into an 84 Ramcharger. Fortunately we got the whole wrecked Dakota for parts.

May want to compare flexplates as the later units have weights and a neutral balanced converter. (handy for those early/late swaps like mine)
