my initial search came up as only "red" as the color of /6, polys, and small blocks through 69. then, thinking about bill hirtch, i stumbled upon a couple of formulas.
ditzler # 71034
martin senior "international harvester" red
rm, ditzler, acme "jobber" # 5092D
with this info, i think i'll let my friend decide what shade she likes the best, and let her get a pint mixed up. i'm no painter, so without additional info from someone in the know, [i guess i could ask mark worman biggrin] one of these reds should be close enough to factory to please her. should something like DP 90 etch primer be applied first ? not sure i have the DP number right, but i remember something about etch or epoxy primer after the "clean, clean, clean, then more clean" on the engine before applying paint of any kind, primer or color.

I had a 69 273 Dart that was blue 100% original, and of course the blue/turquoise ongoing debate on 69 340s... runaway

I always lay down some primer before paint - another ongoing debate, the factory didn't do it so it's not 100% correct - but I'd hate it if the paint came off later and I had to re-do it. So far, so good, in some cases 30+ years later.
