Is this even doable?

It's do-able, if you choose, and has been done , but why? Cannot count how many odd chassis that small mopar V-8's have been in over my lifetime. So nothing surprises me.

I’d say it can be done if you like an inferior truck wrapped around your superior engine. I once saw a big block Chevy in a 78 dodge, made me ill.

I want my fair share

I put an old 318 into a 65ish Chevy truck. The guy was complaining about how many sbc motors had crapped out in the truck and I told him I had a motor he wouldn't kill. The LA 318 came out of a 67 or 68 Dodge truck.

He beat on that 318 for a couple of years before the Chevy truck self destructed, then he moved the 318 into a Toyota truck I believe. The last I heard was the 318 outlived the Toyota as well. I haven't seen the guy for over 20 years now, hopefully he has matured a bit since then. Gene

You can just about stand back and throw a 5.3 LS and a 4L60 into a 2004 Dodge Dakota, so I imagine a small block Mopar would be almost equally as easy to put in a Chevy truck.

My reaction would be the same.

Years ago I saw a tunnel rammed 440 in a late '70's Camaro cruising around Poughkeepsie (NY). I would think swapping into a truck would be easier...

I had a69 CST short bed that had a 440 in it and then a g2 Hemi, pain in the a$$, tight fit, headers were an F--king night mare, for the Hemi we modified BBC truck headers to work.
Now a Small block is an easy fit, Pre Magnum small block you'll have some mount issue's but a Magnum 5.2/5.9 with the side block mount will just about bolt in.
a few years back there was a 72 SWB Chevy with a Viper V-10 and 4l80E truck was Shelby Blue.

The Mopar mechanicals would be superior for durability but more hackable EFI might be desirable so why not use Ford Mass flow EFI?

Take a cue from the past and Johnny Cash
and pay for the conversion cost by writing a country song about it:

I'm building an old Dodge truck. Putting a 360 into a Chevy truck can't be any more complex then mixing several generations of Dodge stuff into one vehicle. My 39 Dodge truck has Dodge parts from 1939 all the way up through the early 2000s. Gene

I'm all for this idea: do anything you can to make this happen Eggman. up

Tell 'em to put a Ford 9" in there while He's at it: that pos gm diff that can't hold up to 305 has probably been replaced a few times already.

To each his/her own. I wouldn't drive a Chevy for anything even with a Mopar engine. I just couldn't do it. I'm strictly Mopar through and through.

But hey, more power to him if that's what he enjoys.
