I took this video Saturday, not sure if suspension is doing what it should or not. This was a 10.34 @ 129mph with a 1.44 60ft.

Cool video. Do the sliders top out on the launch? Hard to tell.

Nice Vid, but at 57 sec the sliders bottom out and you can see the axel get lifted up nearly off the pavement. That's the purpose of these vids is to see this kind of stuff. Looks like the slider brackets need to go another inch forward or so. Better shock control could help or Fix it as well. up

Edit: Also right rear/rim or axel may be bent, slight wheel wobble going on. No biggie though.

From the angle of the video it is hard to see for sure but it looks like the slider needs more forward travel. You have a lot of room at the back. Is that how Calvert recommends to install them? Is this a street strip car?

Nice vid.

I use caltracks/sliders as well and to me it does look like they could be moved a tiny bit.

When setting them up they say to center them, but what they dont say so much is you need to be in full race weight and you need to compensate for the bit that the springs themselves will settle.

You could probably gain a 1/8 or better travel wise by dropping the springs and just using a bur/die grinder to make the slot longer without any cutting or welding.

I would start looking at better shocks to control the rear better .

Ive had good luck with Qa1 doubles, cant say the difference between them and the calvert shocks because I never used the calvert shocks.

But ive always thought the calvert shocks were not much different then the ranchos I use on my 4x4 red boot and all in the box.

Id would agree I would be looking for a shock with more extension valving for sure. As for the slider question, it looks like they are running out of travel but a simple zip tie on the front will answer that question.

Calvert told me to install mine at 70/30 on the slot...so the pin is more toward the rear. My car is street strip, and I have not bottomed out yet, and still have not gone to the strip yet.

The rear wraps up quite a bit on launch. I would figure more preload or tighter rebound setting on shocks.

I would agree although I went a foot breakin 1.33 60 ft. w/slicks on 5-way Rancho's a while back but now run Shiloh's Vikings and have been a 1.34 60 ft pulling the ft up 2'on QTP's street tires. Better shock controll made my car come alive and hooks on the street now and my slider boxes are biased towards the rear and never bottom out in either direction............... beer If you locate the shocks to be more straight up than angled it may help even more cos it made a BIG difference on my Dart........ thumbs

I would say helps give some side to side stability.. helps the suspension to react Freer and faster... lowers the car. I wish I could say reduces weight but that would be a lie..

Hey Jim,
Tightening the shocks must have helped! Congrats on the win.
