Started replacing the front evaporator in a 6/2011 build date Chrysler town & country. Can the steering column be pulled complete with the steering wheel, or does the wheel have to come off to get all the wiring unpluged. Seems like this van is a half and half, part 2011 and part 2012. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

ain't dash related AC problems "fun" ??? panic i don't have any experience with 11 or 12 model years, but the 07 and 08's, plus all the earlier models i have done, the whole assembly can be pulled by just unplugging the various harnesses at their respective connections. you may have to lower the column from the dash attaching points to gain access to all the connections. it also helps a ton by removing the front seats and console [if equipped] just for the extra room you will be GLAD to have. unhook the battery cables for at least 20 minutes or so, then touch the battery cables together to completely drain the remaining residual voltage in the system, so as to be sure you don't have air bag issues. hope this helps, and report back as to how much "fun" you had with this repair. also, if you by chance, discover a short cut or two, please let us know what worked for you. i'm guessing you have a FSM ? if not, try to get one to review before you start, and while you are in the process. also, you may wish to view several utube videos if available. good luck to you in this endeavor !

Thanks all, I finished the job Sunday evening. Didn't have a manual to go by, but did have some confusing information from alldata. Took a bunch of stuff apart that didn't need to. In the end, you have 7 bolts at the base of the windshield, along with 4 defroster vent screws. 3 bolts on each end of the dash frame in the door jambs, and 3 bolts from under the dash that attach the hvac unit to the dash frame. Also 2 braces (4 bolts) at the center of the dash to the floor. I left the steering column in the dash, just took the pinch bolt out at the base of the steering shaft and pulled everything as one unit.
