I have a leak that's coming from under the 5/8 nut on top of my steering box. It was rebuilt but has been leaking ever since. I looked in the service manual and saw that there should be a washer seal under the nut. I haven't removed nut to see if seal was there but did check for tightness and it's tight.

Has anyone here dealt with this before?

I placed tape on top to better see the fluid as it leaked out.

Thanks for the help.

Surely someone here has dealt with this leak. I've called company that rebuilt it and they're saying there isn't a seal under the nut on this year box and that the metal tag and teflon nut keeps the fluid in.

Any ideas?

You could take the nut off and look. Just don't turn the stud, hold it or mark it's position.

I had one come back from firmfeel that was a leaker like that...The adjustment nut wasn't tight enough to seal it up...Snugged the nut and it was done... As suggested you could check for the sealing washer and make sure your metal tag isn't affecting the nut/shaft keeping them from mating correctly...

Steer and Gear has sent me a new nut and tag. I've checked and it is tight. I snugged it up a little bit.

Will know more when I remove nut.

Stay tuned and Thanks!

Just wanted to update. Issue is resolved. All that was needed was a little tightening of the top nut.

Thanks for the update, most of the time the other members do not know if the suggestions solve the problem.
