For the sake of discussion, "body in white" refers only to a bare unserialized, unfinished body shell, less seam sealers and final paint. It has nothing to do with the color white, although it may have primer of some kind. These are real bodies in white arriving at Holman-Moody waiting to become. (Nice Talladega you have there.)

Seems like the terminology was changed by Chrysler around the Fall of 1970.The word 'White' is crossed out.

Great picture Aero426! The inside of my Talladega fenders are stamped "Holman Moody". My Gurney Spoiler II fenders have no stamping. Wonder where those were made.

I had a Gurney S2 for 29 years. Had to make a hard choice several years ago. Still stings just a little. Been restored since and am hoping to see it at the reunion at Talladega next year.

That's what I'm wondering. Color changes are really hard to do right. Most guys don't want to to strip everything out and apart to do a good job of it. I imagine a lot of flaking paint hidden. I don't think the value would have been high enough in the mid 70's for a guy to go all-out in it but who knows.

Is it sitting in the same driveway as the vintage pic?

I really like it. I think it should pull about 100K. The wheel lip molding are the only things that look out of place to me, but they go nicely with the wheels. I really dig those vintage pics too. Thanks for posting!

I like the car but I'd never pay that much for it. Of course if everyone was me the world wouldn't have Starbucks since I'll never pay $5 for a cup of coffee either.........

I might be willing to pay $30K or $40K for that car at the bottom of the next recession though.

Dr. Wolf in Jackson Ms. bought a Superbird from the local oval track when they closed back in the day. He had it painted just like that car. The race track had used the car up pretty good and the repaint was necessary. After some years had passed he sold it to a private collector in Georgia. That makes me wonder? I thought the black looked awesome back then ..
