I wanted to add delay to my 85 Crew cab but need the switch. Why is the 85 part number different than the earlier numbers? I have been collecting the parts to change it over from 82-90 trucks. Why is the 85 switch different?

This is the slide switch down by the headlight switch. The 84 switch is the same as some of the 79 B bodys. Why wouldn't this part number work? Everything else looks to be the same on the 82-86 trucks? Will the 84 switch work in my 85?

I have a spare 85 switch you can have. I swapped to a 86 wire harness and got the relays and all switches with it. swapped to the 86 wiper motor to get all to work correctly.

do you have a non delay wiper switch on hand?

don't know why its different? it is a big metal/heavy box looking switch.
the plastic delay relay box under the dash is another thing hard to find.

the bus bar on the wiper motor is different than the others also. so check you wiper motor for the big square delay relay bus bar. found one at napa for the 85 delay 90$

I used a 85 non delay wire harness on my 88 440 truck and have yet another 85 delay switch there also. it works as far as parking the wipers and low/high but the delay part of the switch kills them where every they are till you either turn off so they park or get low/high speeds.

I would be interested in your 85 Delay Switches. My 2 speed switch has failed. I didn't look to closely at the wiper motor. The FSM says that both types use the same motor.

Why did you change to the 86 Harness? Is the switch still in the lower dash, Or in the turn signal stalk?

I thought I was going to add the extra delay wires and delay box to my original harness. Its been some time since I looked at it but I think the extra wire just went between the switch and delay box. The wires from switch to motor were the same... I think...?

Anyone else add this upgrade? What parts did you use? I wouldn't think the switch is different every year, in all these trucks from 82-86...

No one has replaced the delay wiper switch in a 80's truck?? I was going to buy a new switch until I realized that the part number had changed between 84 and 85. I have an 85...none of the earlier switches will work? They "look" the same, what could have changed??

Scratch was kind enough to send me a switch. I tried to bench test this and didn't have much luck. As far as I can tell it's just as he stated above... When in the delay mode it does not have continuity on the tabs stated in the FSM. The other positions check out. I also dug out the parts I wanted to use for the Delay upgrade. I realized that the delay box I had wanted to use is not the correct part number even though the plug for it is the same. Its for a 1990. truck/Ramcharger. So I am back to where I started.... I don't have any of the components to do this delay upgrade.

I still don't know why the switch and delay box part numbers changed a few times between 81-85.
