A buddy and I are looking at ordering new enclosed gooseneck trailers. What are your must haves? If you were making a wish list what would be on it?

We're looking at 42-44' trailers with bathrooms and a bed in the riser area.

That sounds like something I've been fantasizing about if I ever win the lottery!

* Triple 6000 lb axles w/16" tires - 15" tires blow out too much and main reason for triple axles is that if your in an area where you can't pull off to change a flat/blown tire, the 2 remaining tires will help support the trailer without being overloaded by the time you find a spot. (Of course triple axles will be tough your on the wallet if you travel over toll roads a lot.)

* Dual halogen lights outside.

* Dual electrical outlets outside & multiple interior. (Box fan, battery charger, etc.)

* Generator/box.

* Dual in-floor spare tire storage. Good for tool storage too even if you dont carry 2 trailer spares.

* I've been thinking that a roof hatch in the riser area might come in handy some day.

* As much storage cabinets and wall racks as possible.

* High wall slick mounts.

* Iffy on a winch. I carry a few good come-a-longs.

* Escape door properly positioned for full car door opening clearance.

* I think the rubber "coin" floor is more durable than vinyl flooring.

* Diamond plate rectangles positioned for each tire. (Possibly raised if needed to help the door clear, but you can only go so far if the car is low.)

* Overhang or big drip rail above the ramp door to minimize rain from getting in the door seams and possibly latch mechanisms. (Had a hinge support area rust out because water got inside the ramp.)

* Heat/A/C.

* Had an awning on my 28' tag, but it was a pain & was removed after it got damaged.

* Always get a little more length than what you "think" you'll need.

Probably more ideas if I had time to check out more options.

Beside the usual things, ac/heat, Gen compartment, 16" tires, etc. The stuff that is generally in every trailer.

These are things I will have in my next trailer the end of this year. LED lighting everywhere(as much 12 volt as possiblwe) to including outside. Wheel well cabinets, a fold down table. TV/Monitor and sound system inside and out. As much cabinetry as you can fit in the trailer, overhead and base cabinets as well as overhead on opposite side of wheelwell cabinet. Storage for things like ratchet straps, portable awnings, chairs, oil etc, I like having a closet to hang my gear, a winch compartment either under cabinet or in floor, and a toolbox under the counter top. Extended rear ramp to ease loading and unloading. Rear loading lights. Plumbed for air outside and inside and room for under cabinet compressor. 35 or 50 amp service for shore power. As large and inverter as I needed. Think that's most of it. Id like to have a good awning that attached to trailer and storage for that too, get tired of the portables.

I had a 34 foot tag with living quarters. In part due to the weight and the stories about state patrol, giving tickets for cdl, weight etc. I sold it and got a 26 foot tag, and a crank up slide in camper for the truck to stay in at the races. Believe it or not the rig now weighs 2,000 lbs less, than the 34 trailer. My camper has a queen bed, A/C, furnace bathroom with shower, when it is cranked down its the same height as the trailer, improving fuel mileage. I been averaging 13 mpg, Plus I can take just the camper fishing when I want to. Also most highway patrol see a slide in camper pulling a smaller tag trailer with no decals, might think it has a ranger or other 4 wheeler in it, not a race car. I did buy an extended tongue on the trailer to keep the everything in clearance on tight turns. I always like storage in the floor for spare tires and other stuff. 16 inch tires and a fat man door to get in the car when loading.

The one thing nobody offers....A drivers side escape door on a bathroom trailer along with a slide out generator door...

I want one with all three, and it seems its impossible unless I order a $40k trailer.

for those who dont follow dirt racing

besides the stuff already listed, if I ordered a new trailer today, I would 17.5 wheels and tires and a air ride suspension. The air ride would allow me to lower the trailer once I got to the track, make off loading car easier and jumping in and out 100 freaking times a day less of a work out for this old man.

This is our “wish trailer”. It’s also high enough that we could throw the Jeep in it and spend some weekends in the cooler high country in the summer. Also like that it has room in front of the cabinets for the golf cart. Would also be easier to cool the sleeping area.

Been looking at that exact trailer for over a year now. Layout is perfect for what I'm looking for. Just needs a roof air, heat, and a fridge.

Got me an old 28' Haulmark. Just get as big as you can afford. You can always add things as you go. That is what I have been doing. Mine was too good of a deal to pass up. I have repainted the entire inside white, added overhead aluminum cabinets, battery box & winch, electric tongue jack and being that i am in the hood I added latches that i lock from the inside so even if someone snips the padlocks off of the big rear door they still cannot open it from the outside.

I also use the electric tongue jack as a anti-theft device in addition to the tongue lock. Jack it up as high as it will go & pull the fuse which is hidden in the harness. Then no one else can lower it onto their truck to be able to drive away. I also wrap chains thru the wheels & lock them together.

Dustin has a 28'(I think) trailer currently. I can understand wanting more. I waffled between a large living quarters trailer and shorter trailer and motorhome. I ended up with the latter.

Definitely an electric tongue jack, because I'm old and lazy. We lower ours all the way and remove the power to it.

Electric tongue jack is a must have for most enclosed trailers, and really every Gooseneck trailer it should be standard. The LQ trailer vs. Motorhome/Tag combo, is really up to what do you do other then go racing? I also have a 24' open trailer to haul my SkidSteer, so I still need a diesel truck. I'm also thinking long term. When I retire, I want to head south for the winter, and race my way north as the weather gets nice, and enjoy as many tracks as I can. Since it's just me, I don't need a ton of living space.

Oh I still have a diesel dually too as does my son

Never buy a Pace trailer, POS to the MAX! my beater (2015) 24' enclosed with 2' v-nose has broken down three times now. Also, NEVER buy spring axle trailers, only torsion axle...

I wonder if Bloom paid for that with all the money he mad years ago hauling dope?

Lots of great suggestions. I would definitely get a winch, dual batteries, a shower,12v LED lighting, and an aluminum trailer.

Right now I think InTech builds my favorite trailer.

Correct, 07 28' Pace currently. I spend about 25 weekends a year at the racetrack (our season is short) so having some more amenities would be nice. Not required, but would be nice. If we can find something at a fair price point we're planning to pull the trigger on two.



We've been window shopping the various trailers on RJ like what Jay posted, those are in the realm of what we're after. Currently exploring a few different quotes from a few different sources and manufacturers, some which think the trailers are made of gold, rather than steel. Aluminum isn't in the budget so ATC, Intech, T&E and Goldrush are off the table.

I ordered and picked up my trailer last year but it’s a lot smaller than the one you are looking for (26 footer). I had it wire for a stereo with four speakers and out side antenna. Then I wired in my stereo. I had a mouse hole installed for a winch and put mine in. Garment closet worked out very nice because a 30 gallon fuel barrofits perfect with lots of extra room. Inside light and extra electrical outlets. One electrical outlet up front outside. Two quarts 500 watt lights which I later bought led lights for. Rubber coin floor then I mounted diamond plates where the tires sit. 16 inch wheels and tires. Smooth side no rivets. 4 foot side door. Workbench and I wired in an inverter.
