I'm going to install some QA1 adjustable strut rods I've had sitting around. I like driving my car year-round, so I'm a little worried about road grit getting into the heim joints on these things and making them fail fast.

I've seen boots for heim joints, but not ones that look like they'd fit within the big round K-frame slugs these rods use.

Can I coat the joints in grease and clean/regrease periodically? Is there a larger CV-type accordion boot I might be able to use on the whole K-frame end?

I drove my Barracuda around with the Heim jointed struts (Bill Reilly) with no issues, for several years. I did get the heim boots for them, when I went to the Hotchkis tie-rods and UCAs. Installing them takes some persistence, needle nose pliers to progressively stretch them and some silicone spray.

I have the boots shown on my Hotchkis joints [UCA, Strut Rods and Tie Rods]. They're entertaining to install, but seem to offer good coverage.
