I'm sure its been asked but have any of you WI guys ever titled a car from a non title state? NH to WI what is all needed from the seller and it is it a pain to do? I checked the DMV site here but couldn't find much.

Best to ask at your DMV / BMV.

NY is a transferable registration state, but I have not heard of any issues with those cars going to other states that do issue titles.

Go to your local court house where you transfer titles. They can tell you. They will take your money so they know the rules.

I purchased a car from New York, New Jersey DMV required a Transferable registration and a Notarized bill of sale to title it.

I bought a car from N.H and all I needed to title it here in IL. was bill of sale.I didn't have any problems,easier than I thought it would be.

Seeing that NH is a non title State and often used by automotive enthusiast to circumvent their difficult or clueless State DMV/RMV personnel/offices for title procurement, you'll need to register the vehicle in NH, use a cheap insurance company for temporary coverage, some of the specialty Insurance companies can be used, Grundy is one of them for a reduced policy, you'll be issued a NH registration and a set of NH license plates to your WI address, you can do all this over the internet, no need/use for a NH address either, nor required, just submit a bill of sale, proof of Insurance, pay the fees, transport the vehicle to your State, unless your already in possession of it?, wait a minimum of 6 months and transfer the NH registration to your State and apply for a Title

I just did this last year with a no title vehicle, never stepped foot in NH, the vehicle was never in NH, everything over the net, everything legal, just taking advantage of a loophole in the system

Keep in mind that the States are slowly closing up loopholes in title laws, the only other State that offers a similar service is Vermont

In 1963 I bought a car from California that only had the pink registration/tax slip. Had to edumacate the local DMV who then phoned Indianapolis who told them that was what Cali used at the time in place of a title. You'd think they would have someone in the local branch that had studied up, or would have a reference book that told them what other states used back before they started issuing titles. Bought a car from Alabama in 1984 that only came with a small white registration/tax slip in place of a title. It flew through the DMV same as a full size title would have.
