Big big difference there. If he sent it upfront on his dime I would be 100x more inclined to give him something in return.

For sure, those people willing to pay more than you would to document their car are ruining the hobby for you.

People have been chasing and Investing their time and money in Collector cars well before you and I graced this earth. Since we are all supposed to be individuals we all have different ideas of what to collect and what we want to do with it, including the level we want to modify or restore it.

In case you have not noticed the collector car hobby has turned into a very big business. Restoration shops, insurance companies, transportation companies, parts suppliers, parts manufacturers, dealers, auction house, finance companies, car shows, swap meets, TV shows, TV channels, appraisers, web sites, car manufacturers, and on and on.

What do these various components have in common? They are driven by the hopes of generating a profit.

Many people do not like change. To me the HOBBY is much better today than it was 40 years ago, especially if you were looking for parts for your ten year old Mopar.

what I fail to understand is why you in the first place. are you afraid of giving too much? do unto others as you would have others do unto you. and feel good about it. no need to tell the world what a great person you are,as long as you know you did right you can "WALK TALL".

If I had it, I would send it all for the cost of postage... what good is it all to someone without the car.

I have the original engine to a 68 roadrunner my dad sold in the 80s, offered to the new owner for free... he never came and picked it up. So 15yrs later it will go in my 68 rr. He still has the car and lives 10 mins away.

Absolutely the opposite. I'm afraid of giving too little.

Several years ago, I bought a Super Bee out of Massachusetts that was advertised with the broadcast sheet. When there to pick up the car, the story changed to "It's at my girlfriends house and I can't get to it right now". If I knew that at the time, I would have never pursued the car. So, $500.00 was deducted from the selling price with the stipulation that if the sheet was obtained, the seller would get the $500.00. Well, guess what, haven't seen that broadcast sheet yet.

I'd say it's more like supply and demand... prices will stay where they are or go higher as long as people re buying.
