Still trying to locate the fella that lives in Wenatchee WA that was reproducing the 68 grill ornament. Not much data on this piece and as far as I can find any factory data about this option. I have an original 68 option listing for the GTS model and it doesn’t show that particular option.

My parts manual does show the part with a part number 2786511. If anyone has any info on the guy in Wenatchee please share it. He also made replacement airgrabber switch solenoids.

Was it the plastic repop that Tony used to sell or a steel one? Last one I sold cost the buyer $750. biggrin You do know they cancelled the option on January 1, 1968 and rumor was that while strikes were happening at Chrysler there were several vendors who quit selling to Chrysler.

Yes, it was a plastic repop. The $750 seems a bit high. Yes, familier with the history. There’s numerous GTSs here in Phoenix and with the exception of mine all have the ornament. There’s probably a few residing in garages.

I am torn wheather to add on mine when the time comes to install the grille. Have an NOS one in the box, ready and waiting. Mine was not on the car when we found it, so can't tell if it had one. October 67 build, so I guess it should. I am backand forth if like it or not.

I bought my last repop for $200, the $750 one was a nice used original. I sold an NOS one for $1200 back in 2008.

They are far and few between. Haven’t seen a NOS in years. I constantly cruise ebay and none to be found. My car has a December 67 build date. Of the Darts I’ve looke at that have the ornament all are early build cars. Nowhere on my broadcast sheet does it show as an option. Given it has its own part number it seems it was something that was added to the grill assembly prior to January 68.

I have never been a big fan of them. When installed it just looks mostly like a aftermarket add on part. If the grille was made one piece that way, then it would look pretty cool.

I think part of it is we see the cars at shows with the hood open. Hood open, looks odd. Hood closed and at a normal viewing angle, can look pretty mean.

Damnimcooltom sent me this. I sent him an email. Apparently he’s no longer producing these.

The part is actually on the Bay. Its being sold as a blem. Looks like its a bit warped. The guy was making them back in the late 90s, early 2000s. I submitted a bid but it looks like there are others interested. probably flippers. It’s not a big deal for me in that I have pics of my GTS from back in the 70s and it didnt have that piece.
